There is way too much danger in online shopping. The weight of holding all these books in an actual bookstore would’ve probably been a much needed reality check, but what can I say? It was an opportunity to get my hands on a few titles that I’ve been wanting for a while, and deals always sweeten, well, the deal. Let’s not even mention any of the clothes I bought on Black Friday.

I bought manga for the first time in a long time, and I wish I bought another volume of My Hero Academia. One of my favorite scenes is actually in volume nine, so who knows, maybe Christmas will come bearing superhero themed gifts.

Sometimes, in a twisted sort of way, I’m just in the mood for a mean character. The kind of heroes and heroines who take no prisoners, who do morally questionable things, and are just brutalAnd I Darken is a risky gamble that I compounded by buying the sequel along with it, but I have faith that it’s going to pay off. It’ll be a pleasure to meet you (maybe), Lada.

And to wrap it off, I finally got my hands on the large paperback of The Way of Kings. I am absolutely in love with the floppy glory of this size when it comes to reading gigantic books. I also really like Sanderson’s U.K. editions, but I didn’t really want to pay for the price of two books instead of one. Maybe when I read Mistborn, I’ll fall deep enough in love that I’ll be compelled to replace my mass-market paperbacks with brand new white covers.

Did you go Black Friday shopping? What were some of your favorite purchases?

  1. I did most of my Christmas shopping online as I hate to fight the crowds–and you can find such great deals! If I hadn’t given the link to my wish list to a couple family members (and if it wasn’t December) I am sure I would have bought many more books for myself than is good for me. Not that I will get all the books on my wish list as gifts, but one can dream, right?

I’ve been really curious about Kiersten White’s books and will be anxious to read your thoughts on them. I love a good dark or mean character now and then too.

I hope you enjoy your new books and have a great December!

  2. And I Darken is on my list to purchase, I’ve heard mixed reviews about it but I think it would be one that I’m interested in. I hope it works out for you. You did great on your black Friday shopping. Have a wonderful day.
